ARC Review: Daylight Again by SE Jakes

Daylight Again - SE Jakes

Well... there's good and bad to report for this book.

The good:

- Tommy and Prophet. Holy hell, those two burned up the pages and melted my Nook. Their relationship is not a sweet, happy romance, but man, they love each other deeply. So hard. So bone-deep. They're men, real men, and there's no sweet nothing whispers, nor did I expect those, but they sizzle on page and know exactly what the other man needs. They protect each other. UNGGHHH!! Their alpha male personalities clash in the bedroom and out, and their domination dance with each other was off the charts hawt. Also, holy hell on the piercings Tommy has. *melts*

- we get some damn answers, finally. The cat is out of the bag by book's end, and even though there's still more story to tell, I felt that Tom and Proph were in a better place, not only with each other, but also for themselves.

- the pacing. Hell, it was rapid. Action-packed, always something going on, never a dull moment.

- the snark. I snickered a lot. Love me some snark, and both Tom and Proph delivered as always.

And now for the bad:

- character overload. I had a hard time keeping them all apart and straight in my own head. No clue how the author does it. And most of them sounded like the same person - there didn't seem to be a clear separation as to who was who, and what made them tick.

- the breaks. It may have been due to formatting, but the text wasn't clear where one scene ended and another began. On occasion it felt as if the characters had teleported to some new location all of the sudden, which confused me.

A word of warning - you should have read Catch A Ghost, Long Time Gone and Dirty Deeds before reading this book. Info from those becomes important in this one, and you must know what went before. This is not a standalone novel, and it can't be read as such.

For a fan of the series (*points at self) this was excellent. Though I still want more. So gimme more, SE Jakes. I'm not done yet with these two. Also, John? Could we please, please find out about John?
