Super cute, quick read, funny as hell, with a cocky preening Bluejay shifter and a bird watcher as his mate.
The aptly named Jay Azure is a cop with a temper and an Avian shifter. Reduced to a job catching jaywalkers, he first meets Simon Spoonwell, a local bird store owner and avid bird watcher, when he writes him a ticket for, you guessed it, jaywalking.
Unsurprisingly, this doesn't go over too well with Simon, but Jay is struck dumb by having found his mate and starts his relentless campaign of winning over his guy.
The book is full of snarky humor and bird puns. It's not meant to be taken seriously, it's certainly not your typical romance novel, but it is great fun, and I laughed. A lot.
The writing style is excellent for what it set out to do. The romance itself felt a wee bit rushed but considering this is a novella, I expected that.
This is the kind of book that you want to read when you need a good laugh - it's not entirely a romance, though of course the cocky bird gets his mate, but a light, fluffy, fun and quirky read, that I enjoyed quite a bit.
And apparently, there is at least one more book planned, in which we hopefully hear more about the Undercover Peckers.
** I received a free copy of this novella from the publisher. A positive review was not promised in return. **
