ARC Review: Ordinary People by EE Montgomery

Ordinary People - E E Montgomery

This was cute and snarky fun, but sadly over much too soon.

At the beginning, we're are thrown head first into the moment where Vinnie wakes up in a motel room on top of a dead guy. And as if that isn't enough, he's also been drugged with a cocktail of horse tranquilizers and some other drug, which makes him sick enough to be, well, sick all over that nice police officer's shoes.

As the plot unravels, meaning during the investigation as to how Vinnie ended up on top of the dead guy, James, the nice police officer takes Vinnie home because Vinnie doesn't yet remember anything much. Also, his apartment has been burglarized, his wallet and phone are gone, and Vinnie needs a safe place to stay.

The unfolding romance was sweet and slow burn, what with the investigation sort of hindering James from acting on his feelings, and Vinnie not quite sure whether the hots he has for the nice police officer are drug-induced or feelings of gratitude.

The mystery was nicely done, but then the book was suddenly over and I felt left hanging. I wanted more. MOAR, I tell you.

Still, very cute, had me giggling more often than not because Vinnie is quite the character and James wasn't bad himself. A nice way to spend a couple of hours lounging by the pool.
