Josh (Wyoming Sky)

Josh - R.C. Ryan Sweet romance with some drama and a sometimes dumb heroine. Fell a little flat on occasion and rather rushed through the romance part. The male MC (Josh) in this story was nicely developed, as was the female MC (Sienna). The book centers around the Conway family, who lives on a large ranch in Wyoming. Josh is a rancher who is also very familiar with the surrounding mountains, so when the rangers call him about a missing female hiker, Josh sets out to find her. What he doesn't know is that Sienna is not really lost. A photographer, she's in the mountains to run away from a sinister pursuer. She's got a good backbone, but makes a couple of dumb decisions that almost cost her dearly. There's some humor in this book, and a lot of great family interactions. It was fun to watch the Conway boys fall all over their women, and while the romance between Josh and Sienna felt a bit rushed, I enjoyed this book for the most part. The sudden leap from sexual attraction to everlasting true love was too sudden to feel realistic. What also bothered me is that much attention was giving to the mysterious disappearance of Josh's mother, a fact that was repeated a few times, and plays a key role for the development of his character, yet nothing was resolved. This was a subplot that seemed to take up too much space for not actually fully addressing it. I also found out after requesting this book that it's part of a series, so perhaps this will be addressed in a future release. I really liked the vivid descriptions of the Wyoming landscape. Albeit, it wasn't enough to push this book to four star level. It's a nice read for blustery day, but overall not a book that will stay in my mind for very long.I received a free ARC from the publisher via Netgalley. A positive review was not promised in return.
