I love it when a title not only matches the main plot but all the underlying plots as well.Slow burn is the story of Ashley Fitzgerald and Ronald Noble, two people damaged by a connected past. Ron's reputation as a man-whore only deters Ashley for a while (yeah, keep telling yourself it's for your art only) but after a slow start (slowly burning) they fall madly in love. And lust. Oh, how they lust. Only they don't tell each other that. Keeping secrets is only one of their issues.Ashley's parents died in a fire 10 years ago, a fire that is rumored to have been started or caused by Ron's father. Problem, right? Compound that with the fact that Ashley who was in the house when the fire started doesn't remember anything from that night, having blocked out some kind of traumatic experience. About 1/3 in, there's nothing slow about that burn anymore. The story takes off, twists and turns at every corner and culminates in a fiery finale that'll have you on the edge of your seat, chewing your nails.There are villains, victims, lovers and a bunch of side characters that all in some way or other have an impact on the plot, a thrilling ride of suspense and erotic lust and burning love.The writing is evenly paced, explicit in certain private moments and gets you emotionally involved pretty much from the start.
